For a unique handmade work of functional or decorative art, look no further than Sarah Houde Pottery in Hollywood, Maryland. From a fish platter or print, berry bowl or dogwood urn, you’ll find innovative designs that are made from the finest materials.
In 1978, while I was a senior in college majoring in Marine Biology, I started making pottery. As my love for the art and skills grew, I received more requests from friends to make teapots, lamps, and mugs. While I studied in graduate school, I set up my first studio with a used wheel and kiln.
Although I finished school in 1985, my urge to create pottery kept me from devoting my life to science. Since 1987, I have worked in my waterfront studio making fish platters and other pieces. With the exception of a break in 1989 to have my son, I have been making pottery full-time.
My work is owned by collectors all over the world and continental US. Since 1990 it has been featured at gallery, fine art and craft shows in the mid Atlantic states region. . Since 2005, my studio has been included in the Southern Maryland Heritage Tour for Earth, Art, and Imagination. I was featured in the So MD, This is Living Magazine as well as on My amazing renovation on HGTV. In addition to my Studio, my pieces are shown in the following locations:
|• North End Gallery (Leonardtown, Maryland)
• Annmarie Garden Gift Shop (Solomons, Maryland)
|• Rehoboth Art League (Rehoboth Delaware)
• Sherrie Gallerie, Columbus, Ohio
